Andy Culpepper

Managing Director - Investments

With more than 30 years of experience in the securities business, Andy Culpepper is dedicated to providing his clients with professional investment consulting and asset management services.

Mr. Culpepper earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1966 and then began his financial services career with BB&T, where he worked for 15 years and rose to the position of City Executive and Senior Vice President. He served as President of the Hardy & Newsom Corp., a metal manufacturer, for a year, and then joined Carolina Securities Corp. in 1982 as a Senior Vice President. He moved his financial practice to Wachovia Securities in 1988. Mr. Culpepper has been a member of the firm’s Directors’ Council for ten years in recognition for providing outstanding client service. He holds several general and sales securities registrations and life and health insurance licenses.

Mr. Culpepper received firmwide recognition in 1996 as a recipient of the James C. Wheat Jr. Community Service Award, given to associates who have made a commitment to serving their communities through volunteer activities. In addition, Mr. Culpepper’s activities include: Former Alderman, City of Kinston; Past President, Rotary International; Recipient, Paul Harris Award (the highest Rotary recognition); Secretary-Treasurer, Lenoir County Development Committee; Graduate, Leadership Lenoir County; Secretary, Committee of 100; Director, Discovery Insurance Co.; Past President, Kinston-Lenoir Chamber of Commerce; and Past President, Kinston area United Way Board of Directors.

 

 

Sara Conway

Financial Advisor

Sara Conway joined Culpepper Investment Group in June of 2001. She is registered as an Investment Advisory Representative, and advises clients on their investment allocations and serves as a liason between Mr. Culpepper and clients. Mrs. Conway is responsible for managing marketing for the group, and she supervises the development and preparation of client and prospect information and educational correspondence and seminars.

Mrs. Conway graduated magna cum laude from East Carolina University with a degree in Finance. She holds her life and health insurance license as well as her Medicare and long-term care licenses.

 

 

Sheryl A. Tyer

Senior Account Administrator

Sheryl A. Tyer has more than eight years of experience in the financial service business. She handles the operational needs for the group, as well as being responsible for managing client services. In addition, her duties include processing new accounts, resolving client information requests, maintaining the supplies inventory, handling personnel matters, serving as the group’s liaison with corporate headquarters contacts, and scheduling Mr. Culpepper’s appointments.

Before joining Wachovia Securities in 1997, she worked at Provident Finance Company as a customer service representative who helped clients with consumer loans. In addition, she spent eight years as an administrative assistant with Dixon Marketing Inc. working with a national food manufacturer in marketing their products to military commissaries.

Mrs. Tyer holds an associate degree in marketing from Lenoir Community College, and she also attended Lubbock Christian College in Texas. She attended a team leadership seminar, as well as a Bill Good Marketing Training course in Utah. In addition to being a notary public, she is active in her church’s youth program.
